We are in the midst of summer now and that means changing up our beauty routines. For a long time I preferred not to wear makeup at all, but over the past few years I have found myself inexplicably drawn to it. I blame instagram. My feed is always so filled with quick tutorials that I have to try them out for myself. So I made up my mind and splurged on a lot of products and went through everything one by one - experimenting A LOT (so you don't have to) to help me find what works best for me (and hopefully for you guys too, haha).
Today, I wanted to do a post on 5 of my favorite tried and tested products that work best for me during the summer -
Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation:
I am extremely picky with what I put on my skin because I have the most sensitive skin ever. I get breakouts easily and they are hard to recover from. For that reason when I find a foundation that keeps my skin from acting up, I stick with it. And while I love my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation/Koh Gen do for days, when I want a full face of makeup, I just can't be bothered to go so high end on a daily basis. On beautiful summer days when I'm looking for a non oily finish that would last me all day while allowing my skin to breathe, the MFU foundation is my go to. It's super lightweight, buildable without looking cakey and has a flawless finish.
Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette:
I got this palette as a present from my mom this valentine's day, but I didn't really get into using it much until this summer, and now I find myself reaching for it time and time again. Not only does it have AMAZING pigmentation, it's also got this great range of colors that can help you go from an everyday 'no makeup makeup' look to a smoldering sexy night look to a fun, carefree look with a pop of color. Three of my favorite shades are Mocha (lid), Bordeaux (crease), and divinity (under the brow) for an everyday matte look.
Jaclyn Hill x Becca Highlighter in Champagne Pop:
I was not a big believer in the power of highlighters until I came across this, and it was love at first sight. Just a little touch of it on the high points of your cheekbones is enough to make you look dewy and gorgeously radiant all day long. It is one of my holy grail products that I just can't do without.
Nars Blush in Orgasm:
I love switching up my blushes. They are such an underrated product when it comes to makeup, but I do feel that the color of your blush says a lot about the look you are trying to go for. For me, I love how the shade Orgasm comes off on me (I am olive skinned). It's just the right balance of peachy pink and I love wearing it, especially during the summer when I am looking for a more natural flush on my cheeks.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita:
True to it's name, this liquid lipstick is everlasting. It doesn't smudge when I eat or drink, and it doesn't feel too drying on my lips either. It holds well without fading away in that unattractive way that a lot of lipsticks do. It isn't uncomfortable or cakey, and it keeps my lips looking polished throughout the day. I love using lolita for everyday wear. It has a beautiful dusty rose/mauve shade that is perfect for when I want a "your lips but better" look.
